Portrait of Maria Sybilla Marian, botanist and naturalist who observing and painting butterflies discovered metamorphosis and changed the scientific perspective over these insects. I was asked to draw her by She_is_history, an instagram page that tells the story and life of women in history.
Below you can see the final version and a very similar one with lighter background details; and last the first version, where Sybilla had no pupils and the background was green.
The best part was drawing all the plants and insects that act like a wallpaper behind her, getting lost in the lines...
